Further Details of its Legacy Plan

The site of Expo 2020 will transform into an ecosystem to encourage the growth of the UAE’s knowledge economy, according to plans unveiled at Cityscape Global today.
In a keynote speech at the Cityscape conference, taking place on September 4th, Marjan Faraidooni, Expo 2020’s VP of Legacy set out ambitious plans to transform the Expo’s 4.38 square kilometre site into an ecosystem that connects businesses in the transport and logistics, travel and tourism, real estate and education sectors, as part of a creating a thriving knowledge economy that contributes to the UAE’s diversified future. Ms Faraidooni explained Expo’s intentions. “Our legacy plans are wide ranging and ambitious. Our Expo will continue to foster innovation, and to create meaningful partnerships that will live beyond 2020 – not only for the UAE but for the region as a whole.”

EXPO 2017 Astana

Number of Participating Countries exceeded the Plan

 

101 countries have confirmed their participation in the International Specialized Exhibition “Astana EXPO-2017”.

We recall that earlier, Brazil officially confirmed its participation in the Exhibition, being the 99th participating country. The strategic number of countries specified in the Exhibition’s registration dossier was 100 participating countries. Ukraine confirmed its participation and became the hundredth country. The next country in the list is the Dominican Republic.

German Garden Opening

On 18th June 2016 the Consul of Germany in Antalya and Commissioner General of Section, Mr. Martin Vetter, invited to the official opening of the German Garden in EXPO 2016 Antalya. Together with Mr. Robert Dölger, Attaché of the Germany Embassy in Ankara, Mr. Fırat Işık, Secretary-General of EXPO 2016 and Mrs Isabel Besemer, Director of the German Garden, he cut the ribbon as symbol of the official opening of the German Garden.

The motto of the German Garden is “Future plants – the innovation potential of renewable raw materials”, which perfectly matches the general theme of EXPO Antalya, “Flowers and Children – a greener life for future generations”.

A tiny air-conditioned lounge is at WECC’s Members full disposal and offers a coffee machine and an ice-cold water fountain along with a big sofa and table for small meetings.

Ukrainian Garden Opening Ceremony

The 20th of May the Expo 2016 Antalya Ukrainian Garden was officially inaugurated. Over 100 guests took part to this event and enjoyed the joyful atmosphere of both the Garden and Odessa Rosso Beach. The event was organized by WECC at the presence of Mr. Erdogan Kok, Commissioner General of Expo 2016 Antalya, Mr. Mucahit Sengul, Deputy Secretary General of Expo 2016 Antalya, Ms. Svetlana Podliesna, General Commissioner of Ukraine Garden and Ms. Magdalena Rosell representing WECC. Through this and many other events to come, WECC is contributing to the success of Expo 2016 Antalya.

The Union of the Comoros Garden in Expo 2016 Antalya

Comoros has agreed to participate at EXPO 2016 ANTALYA. It is the first time that the Union of Comoros takes part in an international event of horticulture. This initiative can be translated by the desire to sell the country's good image by exposing its excellence products at its garden;(vanilla, ylang-ylang, cloves, cinnamon, Nutmeg and Turmeric and black pepper), its culture and its tradition. It is also an opportunity to promote an open tourism industry in Comoros and establish contacts with new partners who would like to come and invest in that country. So far it should be noted that tourism and the launch of calling investors in the Comoros are among the priorities of the Government of the Union of Comoros.
