On September 3rd at the WECC business lounge has been organized the interactive session focused on the official presentation of Expo 2022 Lødz (Poland) to the African Continent.
Event started welcome speech of Mr.Mucahit SENGUL (Secretary General of WECC)Than Poland Commissioner Mr. Andrzej Stefanski and Mr. Kamil Kulesza (The city of Lodz Expo Project Department) gave information in regarding to Lodz Expo 2022 project. Mr. Philip Conteh (WECC Vice President/Africa) moderated African Commisioners’s questions about Lodz Expo 2022 project.
The slogan: “City Re: invented”, expresses the main idea of EXPO-2022 – the revival and restoration of cities. Lødz is recognized as the most attractive city for investors in Poland: the favorable regime of the special economic zone operates in the city, and the graduates of its 20 universities can become a promising workforce for future enterprises.
The National Day of the Holy See was held on September 2nd at Expo 2017. In the official part of the event, the speakers were the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev and Cardinal Peter K.A. Tarkson. During the celebration, Archbishop Metropolitan of the parish of the Mother of God in Astana Tomasz Peta read out the Message of Pope Francis to the community of EXPO 2017 .
Addressing to the participants and organizers of EXPO-2017, the Pope noted: “The way we use energy resources is a sign of how well we are carrying out the task that, according to many religious traditions, has been entrusted to us by God, namely to care for the world around us and for our fellow human beings of every time and place. If our generation and use of energy are sustainable and grounded in solidarity, we are doing our job well. Otherwise, we are not. At stake is our very dignity; at stake too are justice and peace. It is to promote an awareness of this that the Holy See has designed its pavilion at the Astana Expo on the theme: “Energy for the Common Good: Caring for our Common Home”.
In continuation of the official part, Cardinal Tarkon, referring to the objectives of the presence of the Catholic Church at EXPO 2017, noted: “The Vatican, as an ecclesiastical state, can not remain aloof when peace and humanity unite their efforts to create a future. The Vatican greatly appreciates these moments of participation in EXPO exhibitions, which give him the opportunity to serve humanity, of which he is a part and for whose training and enlightenment he is ready to share his revelations“.
In the evening of the same day, a gala dinner in honor of the day of the Holy See took place in the WECC business lounge. Guests of the evening were Cardinal Peter K.A. Tarkson, the Apostolic Nuncio in RK Francis Chulicatti, Archbishop Metropolitan of the parish of the Mother of God in Astana Tomas Peta and other representatives of the Roman Catholic Church of Kazakhstan and Russia.
On August 29th the WECC business lounge hosted Mr. Tim Briercliffe – General Secretary AIPH (International Association of Horticultural Producers).
Mr.Mucahit SENGUL Secretary General of WECC(Ex Dpty.Secretary General of Expo 2016 Antalya) presented final report of Expo 2016 Antalya and Mr. Tim Briercliffe ,The Secretary Of AIPH presented the Association to the Expo Commissioners and focused his presentation on the next Future Expos worldwide that will be organized by AIPH : Taichung World Flora Exposition 2018/19, Greentech Trade Show 2018 Amsterdam, International Horticultural Exhibition 2019 Beijing, Australis 2020, Australia, Expo 2021 Yangzhou (China), Floriade Amsterdam Almere 2022.
Mr. Tim Briercliffe met also Mr. Kairat Abdrakhmanov (Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan), Mr.Zhanseit Tuimebayev (Governor of South Kazakhstan), Mr. Akhmetzhan Yessimov (Secretary General of Expo 2017 Astana) and some country Commissioners interested to become AIPH affiliate Members. This represents the enlargement of the Association with many new Countries members every year.
The gala dinner in honor of Afghanistan day was held at the WECC lounge on August 19th. The dinner was opened by the speech of the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Qadam Shah Shahim.
Throughout the evening the guests were entertained by the live national Afghan music: some of them heard for the first time how the rubab, tabla and harmonium sounds.
The Poland city of Lodz held a presentation for the commissars of the countries participating in EXPO in Astana as an official candidate for the right to hold the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2022.

In addition, Łodz is located in the geographical center of Poland, at the intersection of all the main communication arteries.
The presentation was prepared by the pavilion of Poland in conjunction with the National Agency for the Development of Entrepreneurship, and the General Commissars of the pavilions of China, Japan and Qatar became its participants.
The WECC Business Lounge hosted an interactive session on the business opportunities of the African countries and Kazakhstan. The discussions were conducted on a wide range of topics: youth policy, investment opportunities, culture and tourism attractiveness, power industry. Speakers presented the most successful commercial projects and gave examples of effective state support programs and measures aimed at improving the business and investment climate.
At the end of the session, the Commissioner General of the Angola section, Mrs. Albina Assis, thanked representatives of the official candidate for the International Exhibition EXPO 2022, the city of Łodz in Poland for the organizational and sponsor support.
Turkey Day started with a festive concert on the National Day Scene and succeeded by a colorful solemn procession through the exhibition grounds. People in the procession were dressed in national costumes of various historical eras.
In the evening, the participants of the EXPO were invited to a festive reception with traditional Turkish cuisine, which took place in the WECC business lounge. The organizer of the banquet is the Turkish company ENPRODE Engineering&Construction, which operates in the field of traditional and renewable energy.
On August 3rd, the Republic of Chile celebrated its national day at EXPO 2017. As a part of the celebration program the country represented it’s opportunities on business development and investment activity. Presentation took place on the business site of the Club of Commissioners and attracted the attention of a wide audience.
Chile is the Latin American leader in most indicators of economic performance: the country ranks first in the region in the Global competitiveness index, the ranking of the best countries for doing business and the level of economic freedom. Chile is the only Latin American country that participates in the OECD. Priorities of the Republic for today are the support of innovations for increasing high-tech production of goods that have high added value, and for this purpose Chile is taking effective measures to attract investment.
The evening of the national day ended with a reception in the hotel Rixos, where the guests could taste the dishes of Chilean national cuisine.
On July 31st it was celebrated the day of African women in Kazakhstan for the first time on the initiative of the Ambassador of Angola and with the support of the Embassy of South Africa, the commissioners of the African section and the WECC within the framework of the International Exhibition EXPO 2017.
During the event, a forum of successful women was held, the participants of which shared success stories, and a defile of models in clothing from African designers.
Honorable guests of the event were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to Kazakhstan and the Commissioner of the South Africa section at EXPO 2017, Keitumetsi Seipelo Tandeka Matthews, the General Commissioners of the Madagascar Pavilion Tovonirina Ratcimbarison and the Angola pavilion Albina Asis Afriko, the Minister of Commerce of the Republic of the Gambia, Dr. Isatu Torei.
On July 28th, a presentation of Angola’s investment projects in the field of energy efficiency took place in the WECC conference hall. Improving the quality, reliability and availability of energy supply is one of the key factors in the growth and development of the Angolan economy. The attraction of investments in the energy sector will contribute to the development of infrastructure for the production and transmission of electricity and increase the share of renewable energy.
